How I Decided To Become A Master Electrician Part 16

Things started to really change in March 2023. I got my approval for my LLC at the beginning of the month. I sent off my documents to register for the master electrician exam. I started getting more calls from the business cards that I passed out at the beginning of the year.I had around four jobs per week during this time. I wanted more work to fill my schedule. I signed up for a lead generation program. All callers were customers that needed immediate work. I just needed to be able to answer the phone whenever a call would come through. I found out that this was not easy. I also ran into an issue that I never knew about. Answering the phone for these calls were difficult while working from home or working on a job. I have terrible phone reception at home. Depending on wifi calling is not so great for a business. When I'm working on a job, I don't always feel or hear my phone ringing. I work in lots of places with no phone reception. All of these things end up in losing out on a call. That ends up being money lost because I paid for that call. Since all of these customers needed pretty much immediate service, you had to schedule them the same day or no later than the next day. If you could not do that, the customer would just try to contact someone else.The final issue that I had was that the lead generation company would list my company as similar to or as another bigger company. The callers would think that they would be getting in contact with some of the local well know companies in my area. I would spend the beginning of some of the calls letting the customers know about my company, and trying to explain how I feel like I provide a better service than the bigger companies. Some customers would not take a chance on me. This is an issue that I still have now. If people don't know about your small business, they won't give you a chance to prove yourself. It doesn't matter if you have a bunch of five star reviews. People trust what they see on TV. Most small businesses don't have the budget to compete with that type of marketing. The lead generation company put me at a big of a disadvantage by listing me as a bigger company. I don't like deceiving people.Those calls did help me gain quite a few return customers. My schedule was being filled each week by the end of Friday. Things were really looking good. I was patiently waiting on my approval to take the master electrician exam. I found out that it would be 45 days before I get any type of notice.
